SMS

SMS

Within our environment, there are multiple ways to configure your business telephone numbers to be SMS capable. Those methods include SMS to Email, Directory Bots, URL (Webhooks), Contact Center, SMS Marketing or Microsoft Teams SMS.

The purpose of this guide is to provide users with a reference to perform SMS via the UC Client (ConnectUC). In order to configure your phone number(s) to be SMS capable, please reach out to our support team.

Getting Started

In order to get started with business SMS, the Recent Communication's support team will need to configure your phone number(s) to be SMS capable and make the proper connections to enable this within the ConnectUC environment. Once configured, you will download the ConnectUC application. SMS through ConnectUC is available on iOS, Google Play, MacOS, and Windows.

Once downloaded, sign in with the credentials provided by your system administrator and navigate to the SMS icon.

Preferences & Notifications

An important first step to ensure proper SMS delivery and notifications is to configure your ConnectUC settings properly as they relate to SMS.

Connect UC Notifications
Notification Settings

Select 'Notifications' within settings. Based on preference, select the type of notifications you would like to receive for ConnectUC calls, SMS, etc. For the best experience and to ensure critical business needs are not missed,  turn on all notifications and be sure to change 'Banner Style' to persistent. We also recommend moving ConnectUC to a section of your phone that you will be more likely to see certain notifications. See below.

Receiving SMS

If notifications are turned on, when a new SMS is received, you will receive a banner notification and badge. Similar badge notifications will exist when the SMS is opened within the ConnectUC app.

We're happy with the new service and options we've gotten through the upgrade from our prior service provider and the service team is responsive and helpful. I'd definitely recommend them!

Nationwide Logo

Prior to switching to Recent Communications, we had a large national VoIP provider for our business phone solutions. The biggest difference we experience is the true partnership and immediate response to any questions or support needs we have. It helps that they are local too!

As a current client of Recent Communications with two different companies, I continue to be impressed not only by their amazing growth, but by their ability to continue to service us like we are their only two clients!
